April 3 – Wedge Island sand dunes

After a quiet night in the state forest we did a short drive across to Yanchep Beach which is a lagoon sheltered by a small reef just offshore. A great spot to spend a few hours swimming and then hot showers back at the surf club as an added bonus.

We headed north only making it as far as Lancelin before rumbling bellies called for a lunch stop. Driving through the town Lachlan John spotted “LJ’s Takeaway” and that was a good enough excuse for some fish and chips which turned out to be a great feed. We drove around and saw the sand dunes which are popular with off-roaders. The sand dunes along this stretch of coast are huge, extensive and amazing features. We ended up camping in near Wedge Island right on the edge of the dunes.
